I don’t often run out of words, but even a week later I am struggling to find the words to accurately describe this day, this love, these people. When Alison told me she would be having a Byrdcliffe Art Colony wedding in Woodstock, NY and was hoping I might consider joining them, I was over the moon. As soon as we began to talk I knew these were people I wanted in my life, and that this day would be incredibly beautiful.
If you’ve never been to New England or the Catskills in the fall, you should immediately put it on your bucket list. There’s nothing quite like the northeast during fall, and the artistic minds of these two created the most incredible celebration in the midst of it. When friends, other photographers, or artists ask me & invest in me to capture their lives and loves it is one of the greatest compliments and honors. To tell stories of those you love, of those who know the craft, or of those with incredible minds for design and vision is a great task but one that I celebrate. To capture this day, these people, their love & their community accurately was nerve-wracking for me, but I’m happy to have left with a collection of memories that make me tear up even a week later.
11 years in the making was this love. To grow through so many weird and awkward phases and chapters together, and to love one another through all of the changes that occur during this time is really something. To watch these two together, to so easily be able to see how much they love and honor one another, and to see the tears flow as they spoke to one another about what they built together was not an experience I have regularly. My soul was full, with two people I had just met for the first time in-person that day, and my heart happy. I left feeling like I was dancing in the magic they had created and would do so forever. It was more than words can explain to celebrate this love with them and preserve the moments for eternity. Alison & Aaron, thank you truly, for not only enthusiastically trusting me from day one but for also welcoming me into your lives and hearts so fully. I am so grateful I can offer these memories to you both and keep you in my life for years to come. The wild west will be calling for you whenever you find yourselves wandering this way, and our little home will always have an open door for you both.
