Most people’s jaw drop when they learn about what I do, and more so, that there are people who consider this the best way to get married… but Maddie and Rob… they are a perfect fit for a Jackson Hole rafting wedding! And, they show us just how epic, amazing, and awesome a backcountry wedding can be– full of love, adventure, laughter, and fun.
I started working with them last year, helping out with their big wedding with family and friends. Then… 2020 came. HA! But, these two people have handled so many plans changing with such grace– making the best out of a hard year. They decided the best way to enjoy this would be to get married on their original date, but make it a day truly in their style, and have their closest family and friends join them for a float trip down the Snake River. Next year, we’ll celebrate in more formal fashion, but I could not be happier to join these people for both days– and this one just felt so them!
We started the day getting Maddie ready (in her first outfit- so awesome!) for her first look with Rob, and their family photos. Then we headed to the put-in and grouped up with all family and friends, loaded boats, and got the party started! Then, we floated down The Snake River through the Tetons, enjoy whoops and hollers from passing fisherman, good tunes, and lots of laughter. We had a spot picked for the ceremony, pulled over, and got these two hitched! How much cooler does it get than exiting your ceremony to great tunes and water guns instead of rice?! There was lots of fun and enjoyment for all. We then headed to shore, enjoying a perfect summer day, and met at the Phil Baux park for some epic food from Sagebrush Grille (taco bar anyone?!), dancing and speeches.
All in all, a perfect day! Could not be happier that I got to be a part of this party with these two people.. and even MORE excited that I get to do it again with them next year!
&& to all skeptics, this should show just how amazing a backcountry Jackson Hole rafting wedding can be!
There are a ton of logistics that go into making something like this possible, and I could not be more grateful for Maddie & Rob, for Ashley, for my assistant Diana, my own partner Jay who rowed our boat for us, to Amy at Sagebrush Grille or to Chloe & Tanya for their magic. And, many thanks to Leisure Sports for helping out with gear and rental boats.
