I will never have the right or enough words for the magic of this Foxfire Mountain House summer wedding and the honor of getting to be a part & capture all the memories we forever cherish. Sarah reached out to me after seeing some of my past work at Foxfire Mountain House (one of my absolute favorite places & best wedding venues) and we immediately connected over the ideas, the art, and both being creators & artists ourselves. And, this day is now…as seen in British Vogue! And so, so deserving. These people, this day, this team. What a photographers dreams are made of.. or at least mine are!
Sarah had a vision for their wedding that was everything I love about these unions and the ways to celebrate- so I was Over the Moon (see our feature!) to capture the second part of theirs. Sarah and Ryan had an intimate city celebration the year prior (see it in British Vogue here), and then celebrated again with a bigger bash with all their beloved family and friends in a weekend that felt like a true Foxfire Mountain House summer wedding dream. Full of whimsy, elegance and pure fun. Absolute heaven.
Sarah and Ryan are made for one another, and capturing their love was itself a giant gift. Their family and friends quickly made me feel like I’d known many for years, and I loved joining into the best of moments… and there were many! From an epic team of friends, perfect little details, rainstorms, rap sessions by the groom, and so much more. The complete honor of capturing these two and this celebration was added to by the fact Sarah is one of NYC’s top stylists (and globally!) and has an eye for every detail, making this my actual heaven in every form- from creating with her to capturing and documenting it all.
With an incredibly talented artistic team all-around for the weekend (crafted by Sarah’s magic!), there was truly nothing that could take the magic from this love. The day prior it had absolutely poured all day, so when it was a bit more overcast and seemed to be more passing on their wedding day, we were all a bit relieved (though.. incredibly sticky thanks to the wonderful east coast humidity. My feet recovered from the blisters from this day about 2 month later… ha!). I loved that Sarah and Ryan opted to have a tad more time, so we could ease into the captures and create art as we went. We also got to adjust the “traditional” timeline to make it fit their hopes better, which i’m always a fan of. After capturing a ton of wonderful moments, we got ready for their guests to join for second union– two cultures in a beautiful ceremony. As the ceremony began, Sarah walked from the guesthouse with her mom and dad and immediately the skies opened in a way I have truly never seen, and the most insane pouring rain I’ve ever shot in began. It was… INCREDIBLE. There are some images and memories from this ill forever cherish. This is your reminder to future brides– there is no bad weather, it’s all about the spirit you carry into it!
We celebrated them, captured some of my favorite images and moments of my career, and partied late into the night. So many of these moments fill my heart and soul to this day like it was yesterday, and for that I am forever thankful.
It is one of the greatest honors to capture not only these two talented humans, but work with the incredibly team of artists and vendors we had. A special thanks to my longtime friends at Foxfire Mountain House, and the absolutely incredible team that helped to make this all possible: Strega Floral, The Upstate Table, Jimmy Choo, Danielle Frankel Bridal, Bridal by Alexandria, Charlotte Hayward, Jacob Rozenberg, Gray & Davis, Shiffon, & The Good Morning Nags.
And, to British Vogue for their stunning feature of this day, as well as Over the Moon. Such an honor and so grateful to both publications for sharing this magic with the world!
To see their Nostalgia Collection from this day, which is pure filmy retro heaven mixed with timeless elegance that my actual real life dreams are made of, see this second post. (It’s worth it!!)
Can’t wait to be headed back again in 2025 and 2026!! I have one or two more spots for weddings in the Catskills next season, so reach out if you’re as obsessed with this day as I am!
