Wow, what an incredible day this was in every way possible. Anna & Nick faced a variety of hurdles in the process of making plans, but this day is the perfect reminder that things have a way of working themselves out exactly as they are supposed to… and in this case, with a Grand Targhee intimate wedding!
We knew that hiking somewhere that would put us within the Tetons was important to these two, and though we adapted plans a few times due to Covid, a few broken bones, etc…. this spot was perfect.
We met at Grand Targhee Resort at the end of the day, when the lifts made their final trips up. We loaded up and rode to the top, just their closest family beside them. Anna’s dad and brother hiked up with their pup, making the day even more special! We hiked down the ridge, and then while the rest our of group met and got ready, we changed in the woods for a first look with panoramic views of the Tetons. Then, we hiked down further on the ridge, meeting the rest of our group, and began our final ascent to the top of the peak Nick & Anna decided on!
Let me tell ya, the views were off the charts. Wildflowers everywhere, and a socially-distanced picnic at the top. As the sunset began, we grouped up for the most beautiful ceremony under the sun’s fading glow, and then took some of my all-time favorite shots– Love, Tetons and headlamps… yes please!
We hiked out as the final blue-hour glow faded, and finished our hike down in the dark. I left Anna, Nick & their families at the base with plans to toast champagne and have a late-night barbecue to celebrate!
I think, most importantly, the part of this day that really iced the cake was who these two are– the easiest, most laid-back and wonderful hearts. I got to be totally relaxed, chat with their whole families, and get to know them so much more on this day– which was the greatest honor. After 7 years of life together, it was so clear that they are so much more than just a married couple now, but partners in all of life’s best and worst moments, and best friends. This day was not an event, but a celebration of what they have spent those years creating together– and that’s a beautiful thing.
This day will be one I remember forever, and I’m so grateful to have been a part. Here’s to endless adventures ahead!
Thank you to the following for making this day possible! My dear friend and HMU magician, Mollie. Grand Targhee Resort for offering us the ability to use these locations and take the lift up (so fun!). To my ever-talented friend and floristry queen, Chloe. To Persephone for the yummy treats! And, to Stillwhite for the brilliant idea to give dresses more than one life!
