Sometimes, I meet people that immediately I know are going to be friends before clients, and Karyn and Will are those people. They went through the ringer this year– cancelled engagement shoots (like 7 times lol), changed wedding plans, crazy smoke from the wildfires, jobs lost…. all the joys 2020 has brought. But, through it all, they had the most beautiful Spring Creek Ranch wedding with incredible light, incredible love, and the best adventures and friends.
This wedding was everything 2020 should be reminding us of. Not what we have missed or lost, but what we have gained in faith in ourselves, in love, and in beauty in unexpected places. We were pretty worried about the lack of mountains due to the smoke, and somehow, not only did we still get their outline, but we also had the most incredible light ever, perfect colors, and a beautiful beautiful day full of the things that matter most… love, friends, family.
We started the day adventuring just us 3, so that Karyn and Will could spend part of their day being who they are and celebrating the day simply together. They left from their wedding reception to head straight into a multi-day backpacking trip, which is oh-so-who they are and the BEST type of honeymoon, so we wanted to capture some moments with their packs to remember that part of them and who they are, as well as let them privately share their vows together.
We took a break mid-day, and then I rejoined them in the afternoon and evening to celebrate with a ceremony, friends, and family. The smoke broke just enough for us to see the outline of the mountains, and the light that whole day was unbelievable. The little things 🙂
I’m grateful for these people, who have made the best of every step of this, who cared more about me as a human and friend than as a service, who treated me like long-time family friends, who put emphasize on the parts of weddings that really matter most. I’m grateful to have gained friends in their friends, and to still be texting with Karyn regularly on our quest to identify flowers, plants of the Rockies, and hilarious moments we’ve found ourselves in. I’m grateful for this Spring Creek Ranch wedding, and all the good things it has brought.
Finally, thanks to Spring Creek Ranch for this EPIC venue for intimate weddings (CANT SUGGEST ENOUGH!), to my dear Chloe the floral queen, to my first friend in Jackson & HMU magician Tanya and her team, and BHLDN for this AWESOME dress.
